Types of Kiosk Enclosures
The kiosk enclosure is instrumental in attracting
and retaining the prospective client. The shapes and sizes of
kiosk enclosures varies and they are made with a variety of materials.
Their cost will also vary to a great deal depending on the type
of material used and the size of the unit.
The Standalone kiosk enclosure looks similar to the video game
box found in arcades. It has been widely used because, until recently,
you needed a big sturdy frame to hold bulky monitors, pc's and
printers. Together with its sleek more modern descendent it still
represents most of the enclosures in use today. These kiosk enclosures
generally do not have seating, making them unsuitable for extended
use.
The Wall-Mounted enclosures are mostly used as web payphones.
Most of these enclosures have been designed to easily fit into
the holes left by payphones. Sharing a common heritage with the
traditional payphone the Wall-Mounted kiosk enclosure is often
made with similar materials such as stainless steel, powder coated
metal and polycarbonates.
A Popular kiosk enclosure for use in public locations such as
sports bars and internet cafes, is the Countertop kiosk enclosure.
This enclosure can be bolted down on a countertop and offers most
of the functionality of other enclosures. The Countertop kiosk
enclosure often has no printer and gives the client little or
no privacy. It is also suitable for companies in the car rental
or tourism industries and can even be used as web payphones.
The Sitdown kiosk enclosure is a desk-like enclosure with a built
in bench. This kiosk enclosure is more like a pc setup mounted
into a desk than a classic kiosk. The monitor is also installed
at the top of the desk at an easy to read angle. It has the ability
to be equipped with a variety of options such as volume controls,
printers, card readers, telephone handsets, pointing devices and
flat panel touchscreens.
